Big Brother USA 2018 - Episode 16 - Power of Veto 5

On our previous Big Brother adventure:

  • Plans were afoot to blame the rogue vote JC placed on Scottie
  • Bayleigh became the new HoH, but suffered a major case of HoH-itis when she made all sorts of demands of her fellow houseguests
  • Bayleigh then revealed her Identity Theft power to Rachel
  • Bayleigh nominated Rachel and Brett pre-Veto
Tonight....

We pick up the action straight after the nominations ceremony, where Bayleigh tells us Brett is her target because he is dangerous and a smooth talker and a physical threat. She goes on to say Rachel is a good pawn who won't hold a grudge and will be loyal to her.

Brett said he knew he was going up, and the only good thing is that he and Rachel both get to play Veto. Rachel is crying and tells us she is ok. She said she keeps thinking about the people that she came into this game to and is doing her best to stay loyal to them.

In the bedroom, Kaycee wonders if Rachel is ok as she is still crying. Rachel tells Kaycee they have to work to get Bayleigh's mind off Brett. In the pantry JC says to Faysal he had to sweat and cry blood to get all the votes to send Kaitlyn out of there.

JC tells us Faysal hasn't done anything in this game, and that Faysal thinks he rules this game

In the HoH room, Tyler wants to make sure he doesn't find himself a backdoor option should the Veto be used, to which Bayleigh tells him he is not. JC is next in, and he tells Bayleigh that Faysal is bad and that his confidence has gone through the roof because he changed Bayleigh's mind in regards to using JC as a pawn to put up against Brett. JC then admits to us that he himself wants to cause some mistrust between Bayleigh and Faysal.

Now in another case of HoH-itis, Bayleigh accuses Faysal for not having her back and not saving the best spot in the house for her. She is really digging her own grave, can't see her getting to jury at this rate if this behaviour continues.

Rachel is next up to feel the power hungry woman's tongue, as she is accused of backing Bayleigh into a corner but Rachel reminds the so called queen of the house that Brett is good for Rachel's game.

Veto picks

Usual rules for the Veto competition, as in HoH and nominees play automatically, and the other 3 participants are chosen by random draw.

This week's players are:

Bayleigh (HoH)
Rachel (nominee)
Brett (nominee)
Sam
JC
Tyler

Brett is confident that if Tyler wins Veto, Tyler will use it on him

A bird appears on the house fence, and JC shouts to it that if it has a message from Kaitlyn

Veto Competition

This competition is called Goober Driver, and here is how it works. Each houseguest participating will have 30 minutes to lay down the road with the various puzzle pieces required. However at random times, the road will be closed down making it easier to complete the puzzle. Fastest houseguest to complete the puzzle and get the former houseguests to point B wins Veto. No penalty for finishing last.

And we're off.....

Order and times:

Bayleigh - 14m 24s
Tyler - 6m 54s
Brett - 10m 59s

Rachel, Sam and JC reached the 30 minute time limit and were timed out

Winner and this week's Veto holder - TYLER

Dilemmas for the lifeguard as Rachel and Brett are expecting it to be used on them, while Bayleigh doesn't want it used. Someone's got to be upset, I don't envy him this decision.

Brett is hopeful the Veto WILL be used on him, meanwhile Rachel thinks the same.

Meanwhile, Bayleigh inadvertantly tells Tyler that Angela will be the replacement nominee should the Veto be used, and Tyler responds to this by saying Scottie is his new best friend in the house. God only knows why he said that, hopefully it will be revealed in due course

Next up Bayleigh makes up a story that Tyler actually wanted Angela to be the replacement nominee. Word gets back to Tyler via the house grapevine or in this case Kaycee, which in turn plants the idea that Rachel could cause damage to his game, and he contemplates using the Veto after all on Brett. Rachel then calls out Tyler for being untrustworthy, and to no surprise reveals Bayleigh's Identity Theft power to him, which spreads in no time so effectively Bayleigh's fate is sealed and they will all know it's her who changed the nominations when she executes her power. Serves her right if you ask me, all her own fault.

Veto ceremony

Tyler decides NOT to use the Veto, so Rachel or Brett will head out to Julie in the next episode

To be continued in Episode 17, Eviction 5

The HoH competition is a memory challenge this week, so that will probably be live as well. If not all of it, then definitely some of it.

And that is it for another episode

Final thoughts

RIP Bayleigh's HoH, total mess from start to finish with the lady herself letting the power of HoH go to her head, and less said about her revealing her Identity Theft app the better. The target just gets bigger and bigger.
