Some of you may know me as richie4eva on Digital Spy, and I run the WHATM Little Brother thread in the Big Brother forum on said site, which also serves to promote radio shows and podcasts for said franchise
Wanted to share some thoughts about this series on at the moment, which I am absolutely loving so far by the way
Strange coming from me, I know, as I usually loath the Five era series as they have broken every one of their own rules over the time it has been on Five and catered for the MTV generation and to quote Peter Griffin, really grinded my gears....
But just goes to show that even the hardest of critics can be won over when they do it right and they ARE doing this series right so far....If they can stay away from excessive outside contact/information
As we hurtle towards week 3, yes I know I have probably left this blog a little late this series, but I have been mulling it over so much and want to dip my toe in and test the water so to speak
The men are now in charge after they won the power with a score of 2 to 1 in the challenges just gone in previous episodes, which basically means only they can nominate and have assigned the following roles to the ladies:
Butlers - Amanda and Ann
Chefs - Malika and Rachel
Cleaners - Maggie and India
Bathroom Cleaners - Ashley and Jess
Ginuwine and Ashley revving up to be the main storyline given the events later in this episode, and the same can be said of Courtney and Andrew which no doubt will be cooed over on S**t on the Side by Rylan (or Toofy as he is called in some circles ;) )
Have to say well done to production for insisting on no booing, baying, get *** out chants or indeed the tiresome off off off and also believe or not no whoop whoop at all in part 1 of the first eviction show....We have had more than enough of that over the years and its great to have some semblance of order out there in the compound
Whether it remains that way for future evictions, and also for whoever comes out as the winner remains to be seen
But I do hope we can get to the end of this series still in a good frame of mind, and talking about this series for the right reasons and for some to go into the USA version of CBB absolutely buzzing when Chenbot (Julie Chen) welcomes us to the USA house in February
Just wish those still calling this series 'boring' would give it a chance instead of writing it off automatically, because they are not comparing certain body parts, not discussing who they shared saliva with in Benidorm, having competitions to who can scream the loudest, constant arguing and getting generally pissed up
There's always MTV for that kind of bullshit in the likes of Geordie/Jersey Shore and Ex on the Beach, just let those of us who are enjoying things so far enjoy it and please NO panic buttons like with BB16 in which the first 2 weeks were just as good, but unfortunately down to interference higher up or to keep their preferred demographic happy, a great BIG panic button was deployed which resulted in the disastrous 4in4out which sunk BB16
Some things unfortunately missing so far:
Shopping tasks, why bring the chalk board back if we are not going to see it utilised like the old days when natural arguments occurred when they either went over budget, rubbed an item off that someone ordered, or generally when someone thought it would be funny just to order just bananas, chocolate or luxury items for themselves
Live updates or live feed...Broken record but needs to be addressed and the biggest elephant in the Five era room. Granted we have some live feed on a Tuesday, ranging from 30 minutes to a whole hour not including ad breaks, but that's it....Can we at least have some updates during the day so the fansites, updaters and the general media have something to work with, even if we are not allowed full live feed so we don't muck up the pre arranged storylines ;)
Other than that, pretty dam good series so far so please keep away from that button marked PANIC - DO NOT PRESS and let this series flow naturally to the end
