Greetings citizens of Big Brother world, and welcome to Big Brother from the Batcave: BB Canada
A whole new bunch of houseguests to watch and analyze as we head into 10 weeks of house action with our Canadian friends, and the baton passes from Chenbot to Arisa Cox
Almost all of the contenders are in, bar two who will be revealed in the next blog and will be referred to as 'gatecrashers', their words not mine ;)
So without further ado, lets get this party started and welcome in our new Canadian houseguests
Arisa welcomes us in for the new season, to massive applause from the live audience and may I just say welcome back BB Canada, nice to have you back for another year :)
Arisa thanks the fans for the massive support in keeping the show alive, and the fans will get unprecedented new powers, and the season is confirmed for 10 weeks
Proceedings begin with a house tour and have to say the house is mighty impressive, so many features that will be written about as the show goes on
It wouldn't be complete without houseguests, and here come the first 5
Erica, 23, Toronto
Motto in life is "Why not". Loves travel and music festivals, down for anything that is fun
Will, 25, NewFoundLand
Oil rig worker. Had a son when he was 19 years old, and is doing Big Brother for him
Kaela, 25, New Brunswick
Plays a variety of sports and describes herself as very competitive
Hamza, 27, Ontario
Sports coach who says he talks with his hands and says he will crush any competition
Alejandra, 30, Vancouver
Personal trainer and says she is a spicy latina (her words not mine)
Back to Will, he says he is single and a flirt...Meanwhile Kaela says she is actively looking for a showmance, she is not fussy whether it is with a male or female. Erica says there are two sides to her, and says she is not afraid to use her assets to get further in the game. Kaela says she has wanted to be on Big Brother all her life.
Arisa introduces the first 5 onto the stage, and tells them not to talk to each other until they get into the house. She then tells them to expect heavenly new highs but also some wicked new lows before sending them into the house.
The first 5 look around their new surroundings saying how wonderful it all is, and also some talk about where everyone is from...
Next 5 incoming, here we go
Rozina, 49, Toronto
Religious educator and is very coy about her age even though we have all seen it already
Andrew, 36, Ontario
Andrew is a what you see is what you get guy and tries to be himself most of the time
Johnny, 28, British Columbia
House husband, and he says he will lay his good qualities at the door
Jesse, 24, Saskatchewan
Sales executive. Says he will be able to handle the big egos in the house and is on the look out for a showmance
Olivia, 22, Ontario
Beauty consultant, says she can come across as a little controlling and thinks that is a disadvantage
Back to Andrew, and he says people can't pull off wearing the mesh like he can and is wearing a Jamacian flag on his jacket. We see a few pics of Rozina with her husband, and she tells us he encouraged her to audition for the show. Johnny says his worst nightmare is to have a 'bunch of alpha douche bro's'. Jesse says he is an alpha and will throw down hard. Olivia says she will call people out for their own good
Back to the studio and on come the next 5, a bit of a shorter welcome from Arisa and in they go
Rozina is shouting her head off as she makes her way down the stairs, and introduces herself to Will who gets her name wrong and calls her 'New Zealand'. Rozina still shrieking, as we head back to the studio where Arisa plugs the first HoH competition of the season and then calls a break.
And now for the next 4 houseguests
Maddy, 24, Ottawa
Bartender. Often mistaken for being sweet (her words not mine). The two words she would use to describe herself are passionate and vengeful. She says she has a petty and manipulative side and if someone makes her look a fool, they will get it back.
Derek, 27, Alberta
Loves country music, driving trucks and getting his hands dirty. Runs his own clothing brand, and has his own fashion and lifestyle blog
Ryan, 39, Calgary
Fire safety technician. Wants to be a Big Brother super-villain. Has an IQ of 153
Paras, 23, British Columbia
Law student who is into video games. Her gameplan is get into a showmance
Derek says he is single right now and is open to love in the house. Paras is originally from Iran, her family moved to Canada when she was 11 and was bullied a lot. Ryan admits he is not going to win a lot of challenges, but says his knowledge of this game gives him an advantage. Maddy says there are no morals in Big Brother Canada and really wants to win the $100,000 grand prize
In they go after Arisa's short welcome, and cue lots of screaming and shouting and introductions....Arisa plugs the first twist and then calls a break.
Time for the first twist and Arisa goes to the house
14 goblets on the table, with red insignia's on them apart from one which is blue. The blue insignia indicates that whoever holds that goblet will have to choose 7 houseguests to go to Hell, while everyone who doesn't get chosen for Hell will be immune from the first eviction of the season
A close up shows the goblet with the blue insignia which Maddy picks up and gives to Andrew, shortly afterwards Arisa goes back to the house and summons Andrew to the Diary Room
In the Diary Room, there are pictures of the houseguests and a rack with Heaven and Hell on it. What Andrew has to do is place the pictures of who he chooses to be in Heaven and Hell on the respective racks, and the choices will be locked in.
Andrew chooses:
Hell - Johnny, Will, Alejandra, Paras, Kaela, Rozina, Maddy
Heaven - Olivia, Derek, Andrew, Hamza, Erica, Ryan, Jesse
Those in Hell will be on slop and will not have their personal belongings for a whole week, and will be the only ones participating in the HoH competition so therefore the first eviction will come from this group
All clear? Good
Now onto the Hell housemates and the first HoH of the season, and it's endurance to get us started
It is titled "Feel the Burn"
Simply the houseguest who hangs on the longest will be the next HoH, and off we go
Johnny says he needs to win
Paras says she suffers from a condition which makes her palms sweat a lot
Order of elimination:
Alejandra
Maddy
Rozina
Kaela
Will, Paras and Johnny last 3 standing, and Paras starts asking who wants this HoH. Johnny says he doesn't want to make deals with people he can't trust.
Will is next to drop
Rozina screaming at Paras to look up, which Paras says is quite scary
Paras drops, and there we have it.....Johnny is the first HoH of this season
Coming up, the 4 gatecrashers who could go in, as only one male and one female from these four will go in, although I wouldn't be too shocked if the two that miss out go in further down the line
Kirsten, who loves Big Brother so much and compares herself to past houseguest Cassandra
Veronica, loves her tattoos and says she is kind and genuine
Mikey, loves to exploit flaws and basically says anything goes if he goes in
Merron, says he will be legendary and iconic. Very confident guy and wants to make his family proud
Arisa says the current houseguests have no idea what is going to happen and plugs the first eviction
And that's curtains for the launch
All in all, a really good launch if a little rushed through....First impressions are that this is a good bunch, but it's very early days yet as after all we have 10 weeks of this and opinions on the houseguests can and probably will change as we get deeper into the show ;)
