Big Brother Canada 2019 - Episode 7 - Power of Veto

Into another Power of Veto comp we go, and it's Kiera and Damien on the block pre-Veto

In the last episode, Chelsea pitched about backdooring Kailyn and things got very messy in the Have Not competition resulting in Samantha, Eddie and Anthony became the week's Have Nots

Meanwhile the house remains very much divided as the Pretty Boys and their hangers on in Samantha, Chelsea and Kyra zeroed in on Target Kailyn, seeing her as the biggest threat

The next eviction gets ever closer, who will win the Veto and who will turn on who next as the knives are out everywhere. Let us all find out....

We pick up the action after the nominations ceremony, and Kiera and Damien are very determined to get that Veto. At least Kiera is taking being nominated well, and knows that Kailyn will rally the troops if necessary should the worst happen after the Veto and beyond.

Chelsea is being cautious about who she lets in on the backdoor Kailyn plan, as it's too risky letting Kailyn find out

Staying with Kiera, she thinks Adam and Sam are running the house and she wouldn't be far wrong. If only she knew who else was on their side, and then she would see the size of the task going forward.

Damien, meanwhile, is relishing being the underdog and tells Mark about not knowing who to trust, and that slightest slip could see him go for an early bath aka out the door.

Urgh, some showmance promotion now as we head for Adam and Sam and I think it's fair to say sick is the right word for these two. We want game, that's what we are watching for not all this lip locking and slurpage.

Veto picks and competition

In case you missed it, there is a new rule in BB Canada this year in that the HoH does not play in the Veto comp. Nominees still play though, but it's not the usual kind of draw this time as the remaining houseguests will scratch a giant scratch ticket and if they got a Veto symbol then they play in the competition.

Joining Damien and Kiera in the competition is Cory, Kyra and Samantha. The next part of the competition would be to spin a sort of Price is Right wheel to which the highest amount spun would give an advantage to that housemate.

Samantha ends up with the highest amount, and the advantage is that she will get two balls in the next part of the competition, while everyone else gets one. Instant Bingo is the next stage, where the players will scratch off the numbers on their respective cards, memorise them, and random balls will shoot out from the machine. The first two to finish their cards will advance to the final round.

By this point Samantha is feeling very confident that the Kailyn backdoor will happen, and after much darting around looking for their numbers, she and Kiera finally shout BINGO to advance to the final round.

Instant Crossword to decide whether Kiera or Samantha, and they have to scratch some squares to reveal letters to the Big Brother related crossword, and then put the blocks provided in the right places to spell out the words.

At this stage Samantha is desperate to throw this comp, so the backdoor plan or alliance are not revealed to everyone, but she had nothing to worry about as she sweeps to victory to win the Veto and nobody is any the wiser to the plan or alliance

Kiera now is in floods of tears at the loss, but Sam is quite comforting saying everything will be ok. The plan is set and it doesn't take a genius to work out what's coming up in the Veto ceremony, but it's just all too easy at the moment for the Pretty Boys and their hangers on. That's the problem.

Back to house action, and Kiera admits to Estefania she is scared about the upcoming Veto ceremony and feels she won't have a soul left if Samantha uses the Veto on her.

Oh dear, another showmance being teased now in Dane and Estefania, promoted by none other than Kiera. We are then shown a segment where Damien is talking about his First Nation heritage.

Kiera talks to Chelsea and Samantha, and Kiera admits she holds no hard feelings. Samantha says to Kiera that she wants to trust her, while lulling her into a false sense of security saying she will consider working with her down the line. When Kiera leaves the room, the look on Samantha and Chelsea's face speaks volumes. Chelsea, meanwhile, is getting a little paranoid her backdoor plan is getting a bit too public.

Onto the next day, and Kailyn is certain that Chelsea's HoH is going to be a washout, how little she knows. Thought she was supposed to be a psychic, or was that just for show so she could get in the house. Can't she even see this backdoor coming?

Chelsea now is getting more paranoid everyone knows the plan, and she wonders if Sam using the Veto will expose they are actually working together. So many conundrums.

Into HQ we go as Sam ponders whether to use the Veto, but it's time wasted as we all know what side her bread is buttered on, and this will be an anticlimax. She knows Damien can be easily manipulated, while she doesn't know if Sam can be trusted. In the end she decides she WILL use the Veto on Kiera.

In this scenario the HoH has to pick a replacement, and to no great surprise she picks KAILYN as the replacement nominee. But is it all cut and dry as Chelsea thinks that unlike Maki, KAILYN will campaign hard to stay in the house.

Who will be evicted in Episode 8...Stay tuned for the next post to find out, same BB time and same BB channel.

Big Brother Canada 2019 - Episode 6 - Nominations and Have nots competition

In our previous Big Brother adventure:

Maki was evicted 6-5, with Dane having the casting vote. Maki wished a plague on the house, as Dane had promised Maki he would be safe, so safe to say Maki didn't take things too well. Shortly afterwards, Chelsea took the honours and rose to power as the new HoH.and we will see who she nominates pre-veto.

We pick up the action after Chelsea's victory, and it's safe to assume that there are some early targets for the block

Kyra is understandably very happy about surviving, while Kailyn takes the credit for 'rallying the troops' and forcing Dane's hand. She is then seeing bragging to Estefania, Eddie and Kiera about getting Dane to swear on his father.

Back with the not so Pretty Boys alliance, and Dane is not taking being the casting vote too well, as Adam reassures him that Maki was too dangerous to be kept in the house.

Chelsea, meanwhile, has identified an early contender for putting on the block in Kailyn. She identifies Kailyn as the reason for the house being divided the way it is. She is then with Adam, Sam, Kyra and Anthony celebrating her victory, but celebrations are cut short when Eddie walks in. Talk about awkward.

Speaking of Eddie, he is tellng Kailyn that he has to play smart while fulfilling his dream of being in the house. Kailyn is convinced the vote would be split, and she is also convinced she and Eddie are not in trouble this week, and that Cory would be in trouble this week. Wishful thinking I reckon.

Who wants to see my HoH room

Usual segment where the HoH gets their keys to their base of operation for the next few days. Chelsea's video message is from her friend Jordan, who admits she has never watched the live feeds until now.

Back to the game, and staying in the HoH room, Chelsea is saying to Adam and Samantha that Kyra needs to stay calm and that arrogant talk can place targets on backs. In a conversation with Kyra, Kyra is being told to be careful and that Kyra and Chelsea can't be glued together.

Have Not's competition

Slop and Slide is the name of this competition and here is how it works. Teams have been determined by random draw, and each team member will take it in turns to slide into the slop ahead of them and find a recipe. Once their plate is complete, the next team member will be be up to play. The first team to finish will be eating well for the week. The last two teams left will play off in a final round and the losers will be the Have Not's for the week.

The teams:

Kailyn, Dane and Estefania
Kiera, Kyra and Adam
Sam, Anthony and Eddie
Mark, Cory and Damien

To cut a long story short Sam, Eddie and Anthony did not fare too well all the way through and will be Have Not's for the week

After the comp is over, the not so Pretty Boys convene and all are in agreement Kailyn is very dangerous to their alliance and also agree to keep their ears open and start planting some seeds

For this week's Wendy's meal, Chelsea has picked Mark, and this weeks guest is Hamza from series 6. Over the meal Mark says he will do whatever Chelsea says and take out whoever she wants

Back in the HoH room, Kailyn continues to be the subject of discussion with Kyra, Chelsea, Adam and Sam. All admit she is dangerous, and that Adam and Sam could be on the block if Kailyn wins HoH. Backdoor talk ensues with Kailyn being the target.

Damien requests to talk to Chelsea, and wants to lull her into a false sense of security. Chelsea says she doesn't know where Damien's head is at. He tells Chelsea that Kailyn and Maki approached him and that's why he voted to keep Maki.

Kiera thinks herself and Dane will be fine when it comes to nominations, although they haven't spoken much game and would love to work with Chelsea in the future.

In a conversation, Chelsea tells Kiera she needs to surround herself with people who have her back. Secretly Chelsea admits Kiera would be the perfect backdoor pawn in terms of getting rid of Kailyn.

Arisa reveals that one houseguest will get access to Leon's lounge, as in the real secret room, and will be able to get intel on the other houseguests

Back to house action, and Dane hides on a shelf in the store room, and makes Kiera jump a few feet in the air when she walks in.

Back to Chelsea, and she says she is playing a balancing act as in lulling Kailyn into a false sense of security so Kailyn doesn't build up reinforcements if she catches on to Chelsea's plan for a backdoor. She admits she wants Kailyn gone for her own game, but admits she has to be cautious for this plan to work as it could backfire and make herself a target.

Nominations ceremony

After much pondering, KIERA and DAMIEN are nominated for eviction pre-Veto by Chelsea. Reasons being that she and Kiera haven't talked much game and there is also the trust issue and is a comp threat. Just about the same reason for Damien in that no game talk has taken place and he is an easy pawn.

In closing, Kiera says she will fight hard for the Veto and Damien says he will find some way to fight his way out of this, while Chelsea says she will be sweating that people don't figure out her real plan and that is to get Kailyn out.

Can Damien or Kiera find their way off the block? To be continued in Episode 7, with the Power of Veto competition. Same Big Brother time, same Big Brother channel.

Big Brother Canada 2019 - Episode 5 - Eviction and HoH

A house divided as we get ready to move into another week of Big Brother Canada 2019
Outgoing HoH: Dane
Veto winner: Adam
On the block post-Veto: Kyra and Maki

In other news, it's the Pretty Boy alliance (Adam, Dane, Anthony and Mark) and Sam against everyone else. But there are some signs of fractures within said alliance as there are concerns Adam is getting too distracted about his showmance with Sam, and there are rumblings to get Sam out of there. Myself personally, I would like to see both the showmancers out of there.

So into another eviction we go with this divided house, and we pick up the action straight after the Veto ceremony...

Maki, in his own little way, tells Estefania and Kiera it will suck if he goes, prompting the girls to assure him he will be safe. We'll have to see later won't we.

An exchange between Kyra and Kailyn ensues elsewhere in the house, as they have a heart to heart with both agreeing they didn't click from the moment they went in the house. Kyra admits to us Kailyn is playing a good social game.

Back to the so called Pretty Boys, with Anthony and Adam discussing how Maki doesn't know Anthony is working with Adam. Adam fears if Maki is still there after the eviction, Adam will be straight on the block. Both seems pretty confident Maki will go this week, and Anthony claims Estefania, Kyra and Kailyn are scared, and in his mind he thinks he can control Kailyn.

Task Time

Memory comp where the have not's (Adam, Samantha and Mark) have to watch a video starring BB alumin Kevin and Karen, and the HoH will ask the have not's questions about what they just viewed

If they get three out of the five questions correct, the whole house will get a Wendy's meal

The final score finishes up at 3 out of 5, meaning they have PASSED and everyone will eat

Back to house matters, Kailyn predicts Maki will be out of there in not so many words. She thinks he is not taking this game seriously and wants to give him a kick to wake him up. He just proves her point by just strutting around the house doing basically nothing as he seems THAT confident.

On to the next day we go as the eviction gets ever closer, and Eddie is getting the lay of the land with Adam if in a not really truthful way. He's never been Adam's biggest fan, and I hope it's him that gets to pull the trigger to get Adam on the block and eventually out. Eddie is going far in this game in my opinion.

Eviction

Reminder, nominees can't vote and Dane will get the casting vote if it's a tie

Chelsea, Adam, Mark, Anthony and Samantha all vote to evict MAKI
Kiera, Kailyn, Eddie, Estefania and Damien all vote to evict KYRA

So it's down to Dane for the casting vote, and he votes to evict MAKI

No great shock there as Maki didn't play the best of games and his overconfidence was his weakness, and only has himself to blame. As he leaves, he is not in the best of moods as he wishes a plague on the house and says they are all fake. Didn't take it awfully well then I would say

To cut a long story short in his interview, he says he feels free and admits he didn't start playing until it was too late

HoH competition

Based on a training programme BB put them through the previous day, houseguests will be questioned on what they have been through. As outgoing HoH, Dane is not eligible to play. The comp is called Truth and Spies, which basically is True or False. Two houseguests will start the comp, and the person who answers the question correctly picks the next two to play and so on until one houseguest is left, and they will be the new HoH. Incorrect answers mean elimination from the competition

1. Adam v Damien. Adam correct and he picks Kailyn and Kiera
2. Kiera picks Mark and Adam
3. Mark picks Eddie and Kiera
4. Kiera picks Samantha and Kyra
5. Samantha picks Anthony and Cory
6. Anthony picks Samantha and Estefania
7. Estefania picks Chelsea and Mark
8. Chelsea picks Estefania and Kiera
9. Anthony is incorrect with his answer and is eliminated
10. Final 2 of Chelsea and Estefania

Chelsea wins and is the new HoH

Unfortunate she won as she is quite tight with the Pretty Boy alliance, so they won't be anywhere near the block and I suspect Adam will be in her ear a lot to make sure of no double crosses.

To be continued in Episode 6 when Chelsea makes her pre-Veto nominations. Will be interesting to see who she puts up and how much she will be influenced. Stay tuned for the next post.

Big Brother Canada 2019 - Episode 4 - Power of Veto

In our previous Big Brother Canada adventure:-

  • Dane won HoH
  • Cory succeeded in her mission to get 3 final 2 deals, namely with Eddie, Kailyn and Damien and will be prolonging her stay in the house along with enjoying a week's immunity
  • Dane nominated Kyra and Maki
This episode sees the first Power of Veto competition, will Kyra or Maki be able to pull themselves off the block? Stay tuned to find out as we head into the next installment

We pick up the action straight after the nominations ceremony, and immediately Dane tells us Sam is a back door target due to her closeness to Adam. Kyra has been nominated as an emotional player which is seen as weak. I would call it being human rather than being weak. Maki is just basically the pawn to make sure Kyra goes, but the pawn business doesn't usually go to plan as we have seen before.

Adam, at this point, is getting way too carried away with this potential Samantha showmance. I have a feeling those two will be gone long before jury members will start being decided. Estefania has started a new alliance with Kiera which is called Young Bloods. They are seen discussing Adam's downfall, which will be sweet when it happens hopefully before jury.

Questions are being asked of Dane in the meantime, from the man of the moment specifically Adam, and he is asking who will go up if the Veto is used. The Pretty Boy alliance seems pretty certain none of them are in danger. Oh boy, going to really enjoy watching this alliance getting picked off when it starts.

Kyra promises Dane some others will go hard for the Veto this week, while Dane says he wants total control of the house. My opinion, he's not much of a risk taker.

Veto picks

Kyra and Maki will automatically play and they have to pick 3 others to compete as well. However there is a twist in this series, as the HoH cannot play in the Veto. Courtesy of Trevor Boris on Twitter, the HoH will not be able to compete in the HoH until final 5. Intriguing, and spices things up a bit.

So as it stands, it will be 5 players but the HoH does get to name the replacement nominee if the Veto is used.

Joining Kyra and Maki in the competition will be Anthony, Adam and Chelsea. Chelsea was a joint decision as it was the houseguests choice token that was drawn. Eddie is picked as host.

Dane is not too happy about this twist, and plenty of plotting afoot ahead of the competition. Chelsea promises to use the Veto on Kyra if she wins. Adam walks into the room, causing Kyra to leave almost immediately. Chelsea asks Adam if he will win and he seems very certain he will.

Back to the inevitable showmance, and Samantha admits she is scared and it's patently obvious she is relying on him to win the Veto as well. Oh boy, their downfall is going to be sweet.

Veto competition

On a Row is the name of the game and here is how it works. On the sound of the klaxon, the participants have to collect sap and carry it across a little obstacle course. Namely across some logs and into their respective containers. Falling off the logs means restarting from the beginning, and whoever fills their container up first and collects their ball.

To cut a long story short, the winner is ADAM. He is full of himself as he managed to save his showmance, and Kyra is crying as usual.

A little while later, the showmance is on as Adam and Samantha kiss, but it's very shortlived for now as they have a lovers tiff, and Samantha warns Adam that if he can't play the game with her then she will play it by herself. Couldn;t have gone any better for Chelsea, as she says she will let Adam think he is the big man in this game.

In the aftermath of Cory's secret mission, she admits that out of the 3 she struck deals with, Kailyn will be the best to work with. She is warned though by Kailyn that Dane is watching her (Cory) carefully.

Maki starts his campaign to stay starting with Adam. He wants to plant a seed to get Adam on his side, warning that the girls could tear the boys apart. Meanwhile Anthony is concerned about where Adam's head is at with Samantha, repeating that she has to go. He decides with the help of some others to play on Adam's jealousy of them when they are around Sam. Risky business, jealousy is not a nice thing.

A short while later, Mark gives a nudge nudge wink wink and goes ahead with a long hug with Sam. Adam's turning a little green as planned, saying it's not right. Anthony suggests that this will be the way they will control Adam, in using his jealousy against him.

Veto ceremony

As Adam won the Veto he can either take Kyra or Maki off the block or keep the nominations. After a short deliberation in HQ, he then asks Kyra and Maki to state their cases about the Veto possibly being used on them. Kyra kind of knows the Veto will not be used, while Maki thinks he can be competition if he is saved.

Adam decides NOT to use the Veto, so it will be Kyra or Maki that will head out to Arisa in the next episode. Kyra says no surprise, but feels Maki may have made a rookie error and put the target firmly on his back. Dane, meanwhile, more or less says Samantha is being watched closely and once she is on the block she will be gone.

To be continued in Episode 5, when the 2nd houseguest is evicted

Big Brother Canada 2019 - Episode 3 - HoH, Nominations and Cory's secret mission

Last time on Big Brother Canada:

  • Adam formed the Pretty Boys alliance consisting of himself, Mark, Anthony and Dane
  • Adam nominated Laura and Damien for eviction, and there was no hope for a Veto reprieve as there was no Veto competition
  • Laura was evicted by everyone (11-0)
  • Cory was voted in over Holly for a secret mission, failure meant instant eviction. Meanwhile success meant Cory would stay in AND be immune from the next eviction
To cut a long story short, Cory had to make 3 final 2 deals within 24 hours, will she do it? Stay tuned to see if she accomplishes this mission and to see who becomes HoH and who they nominated

We pick up the action after Cory has made her entrance....and to say there are some sour faces when Cory comes in would be an understatement. She reminds us of the secret mission she has been given, 3 final 2 deals within 24 hours or she is out already.

Conversation around the house is about the lady of the moment, and I suspect a lot of rearranging in people's heads.....Welcome to Big Brother, and all that.

HoH competition

Swiftly on to the HoH comp we go, and it's a test of endurance. Golf theme for this competition as the houseguests have to balance the ball on the bottom of the larger than life clubs in their possession. Basically, they can buzz in and take a shot at a hole when they hear FORE. If they miss the hole or drop their ball from their club they will be eliminated

As outgoing HoH, Adam is not eligible to play and Cory, as newbie of the house, won't play in HoH or Veto and for now is immune from being nominated.

Order of elimination:-

Estefania
Kiera
Damien
Samantha
Chelsea
Kailyn
Mark (failed the shot to the hole)
Kyra
Anthony (failed shot)
Maki
Eddie

Dane is the new HoH, and dedicates the win to his late father

Before nominations, he has to choose three Have Nots and they turn out to be Adam, Samantha and Mark. They will live on slop and not have the best surroundings to sleep in.

In the HoH room Dane is in floods of tears as he explains how he lost his dad to suicide, and we see his video message from his sister.

Back to the game at hand, and Maki suggests to Dane about nominating Kiera and Kyra but Dane's real target is Maki himself

In other house news, Adam and Sam are trying very hard to resist the temptation of a showmance, but we all know it's going to happen anyway if they are both there in a few weeks. Meanwhile, Dane and Anthony discuss their mutual distrust of Chelsea, Adam and Sam, and come to the conclusion Adam may be using them to further his own game. Discussion then turns to getting Sam out pronto, as she is apparently shady. Good luck with that if the showmance starts to hot up.

Back to the HoH room, and Dane has chosen Eddie to share his Wendy's meal and serving them their meal is none other than Big Brother Canada alumin Ika Wong.

Regarding Cory's mission, she picks up Eddie straight away for a final 2 deal and then manages to get Kailyn onside for her 2nd deal, just one more deal to get and she is safe and immune.

That honour falls on Damien, and Cory pins her hopes on getting him on board before time runs out. With a little time left she manages to get him on board, and her mission is a success with a reward of immunity and more importantly staying in the house.

Nominations ceremony

Dane's shortlist was Chelsea, Samantha, Maki and Kyra

Dane settled on Kyra and Maki, and they will be on the block pre-Veto

To be continued in Episode 4 and the first Power of Veto competition of the season

Will Kyra or Maki win Veto and take themself off the block or will the nominations stay the same. How will the housemates react if they find out about Cory's mission?

All these answers and more as we head further into the season, so stay tuned. Same Big Brother time, Same Big Brother Blog

Big Brother Canada 2019 - Episode 2 - Nominations and Eviction

So here we are again, citizens

When we last peeked into the house, Damien won the first vote of the season as in getting top level clearance and could watch the housemates every move. Adam won the first HoH of the season and Cory or Holly will be voted in for a secret mission. Relatively simple stipulations, as in if whoever goes in fails their mission they are straight back out, and if they win they will get a 1 week reprieve from the eviction. Oh, and Arisa announced there would be no Veto competition so whoever was on the block would stay there with no hope of parole this week.

Think that's about it, so off we go for another episode and it's goodbye to one and hello to one more. How long the newbie will be there depends on themself.

We pick up the action after Adam comes into power.....

Needless to say he is very happy, as he claims he would have been on the block had he not won. But I was under the impression, the first HoH is always a poison chalice so cue a target going on Adam straight away. Urgh at the name of his alliance aka 'Pretty Boys', not too vain or arrogant is he.

Samantha now trying to muscle her way into his alliance, or should that be affections, and not being very subtle about it. Meanwhile Eddie tells us from the Diary Room, that he is going to play dumb for a little while if they are the right words to use, to get the lay of the land. He makes it no secret that he doesn't like Adam. He's got the idea some have got about Adam. Eddie could be one to watch if he gets far into the competition.

The usual 'Who wants to see my HoH room' segment where we get to see the HoH get a video message, in this case Adam. Samantha getting her feet under the table with Adam, you could never tell she wants this showmance really bad.

Laura pitches to Adam about not putting her on the block, but makes the rookie mistake of mentioning Samantha to put on the block.

Nominations

Usual rules in the North American format, in that the HoH puts two houseguests on the chopping block. Reminder that there is NO Veto competition this week, how long this is going to last is anyone's guess

Adam shortlists Eddie, Laura, Kiera and Damien. Back with the houseguests, he has narrowed 4 to 2 and put LAURA and DAMIEN on the block.

Adam feels Damien is a rank novice at this game, while he says to Laura he can't keep her in the house with the targets he has in mind. In other words he doesn't want her ruining his chance of the showmance with Samantha.

Straight away, Laura goes into 'how dare you nominate me' mode. Memo to Laura, welcome to Big Brother. Meanwhile, Damien is taking it much better, and even mentions the Blood Veto which was seen in Episode 1, but we are still waiting to find out its purpose

Back in the so called secret room, Damien has received a letter saying there is a Secret Veto hidden away, but Damien is having major problems finding it.

A short while later, Adam's found this so called secret room and makes a major blunder in telling just about everyone. Why, Adam, why, you stupid *bleep*, wouldn't it have been better to keep it to yourself? What a maroon.....

Eviction

Arisa goes to the house, and gives Damien and Laura 30 seconds each to plead their cases. Adam, as HoH, is not allowed to vote.

To cut a long story short, EVERYONE voted for Laura to leave and it was an 11-0 vote and the regional judge was sentenced to eviction. Not entirely unexpected if I am being honest, too many flaws in Laura's plans contributed to her downfall. Before she left, she warned people to be mindful of Samantha

In her interview with Arisa, Laura explained that she could see the threat of Samantha. Whether that sinks in with everyone else remains to be seen.

Anyways, back to the twist at hand and it will be Cory or Holly going in. Arisa reveals that CORY will be going in and she explains the twist to Cory

To be continued in Episode 3.....

Will Cory be successful or will she leave as quickly as she arrived? Who will be the next HoH and who will they nominate?

All this and more in the next episode, stay tuned. Same BB time, Same BB channel

Big Brother Canada 2019 - Launch

Up north we go, citizens, where it's goodbye Julie and hello Arisa as Big Brother Canada opens its doors for another season, and indeed the first of two longer slogs as the civilians take centre stage.

Welcome to a brand new mint fresh season of Big Brother from the Batcave, as we start out the journey to find out who will follow in Paras's footsteps in being crowned Big Brother Canada winner

This season's theme is based on spies, with many twists and turns as you would expect with Big Brother, and here comes Arisa through the eye, and may I just say the influence of the UK show has definitely rubbed off over there looking at the stage, and some of the crew and even Arisa herself were part of the final year of the UK show.

We are given a house tour, and there's a very ominous Blood Veto which will be explained in due course. Will admit I am intrigued to what this may be.

Back to Arisa to introduce the first twist of the season, which basically entailed Canada's Vote to which houseguest would get the first power of the season, and we are introduced to houseguest #1, DAMIEN

Damien, 28, is from British Columbia and is very proud of his First Nation heritage. The rule is simple, he mustn't let the other houseguests know he has already been in to look them over. He is then told he must find the secret room in which he will do his surveillance of the other houseguests. It takes a little while, but he eventually finds the secret room which does contain the Blood Veto and a shedload of monitors.

Time to bring in the rest of them now, they will be in groups going in. Nothing sinister this time, at least not yet anyway.

First group in are:

  • Laura, 26, and she hails from Calgary, Alberta. She is a judicial clerk in a regional court.
  • Dane, 27, from British Columbia. Civil technician, and some time ice hockey player. Worth noting that he has some false teeth which comes with being a ice hockey player, as he demonstrates.
  • Chelsea, 30, from Edmonton, Alberta. She is a radio host, and says she is there to win
  • Adam, 27, from Newfoundland. He works in the oil fields.
  • Eddie, 25, from Montreal. Originally from China, and is learning to speak English. He claims to be the most intelligent houseguest
Second group in are:

  • Mark, 29, from Edmonton, Alberta. He is a travel guide, and comes from a deeply religious family. He says he himself is not really religious
  • Samantha, from Newfoundland. She claims to be a minor celebrity through her tattooing eyebrows business
  • Anthony, 31, from Ontario. He is a fitness fanatic, and says he will be a comp beast. Have to say massive build, but can he back up his bold words? We'll have to wait and see.
  • Kiera, 23, from British Columbia. Short intro, but she says she likes to be the alpha female
  • Kailyn, 42, from Grand Praire, Alberta. Claims to be a psychic. If you add a t between the I and the L then it's the same as that fruitloop from BB USA. Just thought I would throw that in there.
Arisa informs Damien his intel gathering is over, and he will go in with the last three inmates who are:

  • Kyra, 25, from Montreal. Kyra identifies as gender non binary which means it's a catch-all category for gender identities that are not exclusively male or female.
  • Estefania, from Quebec. She is a student who loves yoga, and also plays the ukelele
  • Maki, 31, from Toronto. A poer and a DJ.
Now that they are all in, along with Damien, Arisa appears on the plasma and informs them that they must tell each other their weaknesses. But there's a twist, because through a shit stirring BB, they are shown their VT's where they talk about their true weaknesses. Cue a lot of awkwardness, and very sly on BB's part. I sure hope this is not going to be the norm as we had enough of that in the Five era of BB UK, but then again this format is much more cut throat so maybe it will help, or it will hinder. We will just have to wait and see, and there is plenty of time to go in this season.

HoH competition

Operation Escape is the name of this first competition and here is how it works. We see the houseguests with their hands tied and sitting in their various cubicles. Obviously everyone is playing as this is the first competition. To put it simply, they have to untie themselves to get to the keys which will let them out, and then they have to dig their way to the other side of the garden and press their buzzer. However there are only seven spots, but it is not revealed yet if there is a penalty for those houseguests who do not get out. The first houseguest to dig themselves out will be crowned the first HoH of the season.

The escapees in order were Adam, Kiera, Estefania, Kailyn, Anthony, Mark and finally Maki

Adam digs his way out the quickest, and unsurprisingly gets to his buzzer first and he claims the first HoH of the season. Nominations will be revealed in the next episode

Arisa announces that whoever gets nominated in Adam's reign, will stay on the block as there will be NO Veto competition so someone WILL leave after only a 24 hour stay.

For the final twist of the night, we are introduced to:

  • Holly, 34, from Newfoundland. Armoured Guard. Not a very good attitude I have to say. Says she doesn't have a strategy, which is a bit dangerous
  • Cory, 29, from New Brunswick. A teacher by trade, and claims she could think five steps ahead in this game. We'll have to see about that if she gets in
Only one will go in through Canada's Vote and will be given a special mission to be revealed in the next episode.

That about wraps it up for this episode, and may I say welcome back to Big Brother Canada and Arisa.

To be continued in Episode 2.....

Who will Adam nominate? Who will get evicted? Holly or Cody? Stay tuned for the next episode

Shout out to BB on Blast, who have brought out a new podcast for BB Canada and that can be found right here, and be sure to hit up the links on the right for all your USA, Canada, and possibly UK news as well
