Big Brother USA 2018 - Episode 17 - Eviction 5 and HoH 6

"Two sides of the house battling for power, two allies on the block, and a vote that is too close to call"
  • Bayleigh let her HoH go right to her head, and told Rachel about her Identity Theft app which swiftly spread around the house in no time at all
  • Tyler won the Power of Veto competition by a great distance, but had a big decision in choosing who to save or not to save
  • He did not use the power, and Rachel or Brett are guaranteed to take the walk of shame
Tonight sees Rachel or Brett become the 5th evictee, and also HoH number 6 will be decided as it's a memory competition

Stay tuned to see it all unfold....

Tonight....

No opening credits tonight

Julie welcomes us in and recaps the above

We pick up the action after the Veto ceremony, and Tyler thinks it wasn't worth using the Veto as not to make anyone mad. Bayleigh says this has been the best HoH the house has seen so far. Are you sure about that, don't think best is the word I would use. More like disaster. She wants Brett out this week and so far people have done what she has told them to do. Not power hungry much is she.

Brett tells us it is not ideal that Tyler didn't use the Veto on him, but is not freaking out and feels confident Rachel is going to go. Rachel is blubbing away saying she doesn't want Brett to go. Rachel tells Angela she loves that she just has to be okay with this and not be upset. Angela says nobody was supposed to be ok, and nobody likes being on the block

Bayleigh is confident Tyler is loyal to her, but Tyler tells us it is a ruse to make Bayleigh believe that.

Kaycee tells us it sucks that two members of the same alliance are on the block, and Angela says to Tyler and Kaycee that the alliance has to win the next HoH

Brett reminds JC that if he gets evicted, that there will only be 4 males left against 7 women, meanwhile Scottie points out to Haleigh, Bayleigh, Faysal and Angie that they will have the votes to get Brett out. Obviously Bayleigh can't vote this week as she is HoH and Scottie believes Tyler will vote for Brett to go as well

Tyler and Brett discuss what Rachel has spilled about Bayleigh's Identity Theft app, and try to devise a counter attack. Meanwhile, Faysal is a bit down as Haleigh is spending more time with Brett than him and he thinks it is because Brett is on the block.

Pointless segment alert

Normally I reserve these for the UK version, but will say this Chris meeting Bayleigh's parents segment falls into the pointless category....'nuff said

Moving swiftly on.....

Eviction

Julie goes live to the house, and she runs through the usual rules for the eviction

In case you missed the rules, the HoH and nominees are not allowed to vote and the housemates will go one by one to the diary room to cast their vote to evict

She also allows the two nominees, but Brett really goes off telling everyone about Bayleigh's power app amongst other things. Faces all round are pretty grim.

Off we go....

Angie votes to evict Brett
Angela votes to evict Rachel
Kaycee votes to evict Rachel
Scottie votes to evict Brett

Julie calls a break with the vote at 2-2

Tyler votes to evict Rachel
Sam votes to evict Rachel
Faysal votes to evict Brett
JC votes to evict Rachel
Haleigh votes to evict Brett

5th evictee - Rachel

To say Rachel is p'd off is a massive understatement, and she storms straight out without saying goodbye

Rachel is crying at being evicted, and even shouts at Julie. Safe to say she is not taking this particularly well. She guesses the five who voted her out correctly. She goes on to say she thinks she is double crossed and again shouts at Julie.

When she sees the goodbye messages, her anger goes up another notch when she sees Angela's message and is close to swearing which Julie warns her against doing.

HoH competition

Bayleigh is not eligible to play as outgoing HoH

This competition is called 'GIF that keeps on giving'. Julie will ask questions based on images flashed into the house in the last 24 hours and the houseguests have to answer True or False over 7 rounds or sooner. If there is more than 1 houseguest left after 7 questions, there will be a tie breaker.

1. In the Whaaaaat gif, Bayley is wearing a yellow top

Answer: True

Eliminated - Kaycee

2. In the shock hop gif, there is an exclamation mark after the word hop

Answer: False

Eliminated - Nobody

3. The awkward gif was displayed above the gravity gif

Answer: True

Eliminated - JC

4. In the drummer be like gif, Steve is wearing sun glasses

5. In the too much wine gif, when Winston falls, both of his hands hit the ground

6. In the fumbled gif, there is a water bottle on the steps

7. In the I'm out gif Bayleigh is holding a delete dot in her left hand

Tie breaker

In seconds how long was the Out on a Limb competition from official start to when Tyler hit the ground

Angela - 3000 seconds
Angie - 1200 second

Winner and new HoH - Angela

Before the end of the show, Julie announces a new twist called Hacker. One houseguest will win the power to hack the game, more will be revealed in the next episode. Julie also announces whoever evictee 6 is will be the first member of this year's jury

Update - Whoever wins the hacker competition gets to replace a nomination, pick a player for Veto and cancel one eviction vote.

To be continued in the next episode when Angela makes her nominations and also the hacker competition comes into play

Final thoughts

Not a good week for Rachel on all accounts. Blindsided and then her new enemy Angela wins HoH.

A very good week for us viewers, and this season just keeps on delivering and STILL NO VETERANS coming back as players and it is looking VERY good we will get through this season without that happening.

However this latest twist is a bit TOO much power, and to be honest it is not really needed as this season is chugging along nicely in terms of gameplay, strategy and every houseguest for themselves. Much better than last summer when everyone was just playing follow the leader in terms of Paul, the returning player, but he STILL managed to lose the game.

This season is flying by, and long may it continue. Keep up the good work.

Anyways, thank you for reading if you made it this far into the post, and keep those RT's, likes and shares coming. They are very much appreciated
